Resorts World at SentosaThe Resorts World at Sentosa design is a collection of resorts within a resort so visitors can have a multi-resort experience. The anchor family leisure attractions include The Universal Studios Singapore Theme Park, The Quest Marine Life Park, The Equarius Water Park, The Maritime Xperiential Museum, and other entertainment offerings located along FestiveWalk. The Sentosa Integrated Resort development by Genting will be the largest and last project on Sentosa island. The winning Integrated Resort bid for Sentosa was awarded to the Genting group. The Genting International-Star Cruises consortium has aced the Sentosa integrated resort project. Its S$5.2 billion Resorts World At Sentosa will leverage on international brand names like Universal Studios, which will design 16 new rides specially for the resort. Besides the Universal Studios theme park, there will also be three other water-themed attractions, including a surf pool. Visitors will be able to observe some 700,000 fish species in one of the world's largest oceanariums. Genting's proposal also includes six hotels with over 1,800 rooms for both leisure and business travellers. Earlier, market watchers had picked Genting as a favourite to win due to its Asian experience. The resort is expected to attract 10 million visitors and generate S$15 billion in tourism receipts by 2015. The Sentosa integrated resort is expected to be ready in 2010. Genting submitted the most compelling proposal overall that best meets our economic and tourism objectives. In particular, the proposal reflects our vision for the Sentosa Integrated Resort as a large-scale, family resort with its host of world-class family leisure attractions and other strong offerings. The attractions will position Sentosa and draw a significant number of new and repeat visitor. This will make it comparable to the theme park in Orlando, Florida. The two integrated resorts at Marina and Sentosa will complement each other very well, and allow Singapore to stimulate the growth of its meetings and conventions segment as well as the leisure segment to bring Singapore closer to its Tourism 2015 targets. Marina Bay SandsDue to open in 2009, the Marina Bay Sands includes a waterfront promenade, a grand shopping arcade, a civic space, a museum, a few hotels, a luxurious casino and vast waterfront areas of parkland. First and foremost, as a casino complex, these three 50-storey towers have been designed by Moshe Safdie (a renowned architect) for the Las Vegas Sands, a US-based casino gaming company. Singapore's vibrant waterfront will feature a new and magnificent landmark, when Southeast Asia's first luxury integrated resort, The Marina Bay Sands, [the model of Marina Bay Sands is pictured right] combining state-of-the-art meeting and convention facilities, internationally-renowned restaurants, a five-star hotel and casino, and an unrivalled spread of retail and entertainment outlets in one unique destination, opens its doors to the public. The Marina Bay Sands is all part of the new and vibrant Singapore with massive amounts of construction adding a buzz and excitement to Singapore, bringing world-class experiences in dining, shopping and entertainment to both leisure and business travellers from around the world. It will offer a wide range of leisure products, such as world-class entertainment in two 2,000-seat theatres, an ArtScience museum, luxury retail outlets, and unique dining venues such as the floating pavilions in the Marina Bay. There will also be attractive public spaces and interesting activity nodes such as an ice-skating rink and indoor canals. The Marina Bay Shops, will feature a premium retail mall with a mix of both cutting-edge emerging brands and recognized global labels, an interactive lifestyle wing, stunning water features, an indoor ice skating rink, famed restaurants and waterfront dining. Las Vegas Sands has committed to invest S$3.85 billion in the project, not including the fixed $1.2 billion cost of the 6 million square feet site itself, which by most estimates will make it the most expensive casino in the world. [1] In addition to the casino, other key components of the plan are three hotel towers with 2,500 rooms, a 200,000-square foot arts and sciences museum and a convention centre with 1.2 million square feet of space, capable of accommodating over 52,000 people. The resort, inspired by card decks, was designed by Moshe Safdie. The company has promised to create 10,400 jobs for the project, 75 percent of them reserved for Singaporeans. Marina Bay Sands, to be open in 2009, will feature three 50-story hotel towers containing 1,000 rooms each, crowned by a two acre Sky Garden bridging across the towers, offering 360-degree views of the city and the sea, outdoor amenities for the hotel such as jogging paths, swimming pools, spas, and gardens; an iconic Arts and Sciences Museum on the promontory; one-million square feet of integrated waterside promenade and shopping arcade; a state-of-the art one-million square foot convention center; two 2,000-seat theaters; a casino; and a 4,000 car garage. The Marina Bay Sands will incorporate Singapore's first casino, with the exclusive Paiza Club for elite guests and a fine-dining arena of restaurants helmed by eminent international star chefs. The Singapore skyline will change significantly in three years time. Although the Marina Bay plot of land is now empty, work will soon start on the Sands Integrated Resort.
